JACKSONVILLE -- North Florida men's basketball head coach Matthew Driscoll announced the signing of Aaron Horne to a national letter-of-intent to play for the Ospreys beginning this fall.

Horne, a 6'5 small forward, comes to UNF following a two-year stint at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth, Fla. He averaged 10.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game as a sophomore while shooting 48 percent from the floor including 32 percent from the three-point line and 69 percent on free throws.

"Aaron really checks all the boxes we are looking for when you look at his overall ability on and off the floor," said Driscoll. "He has the qualities that we want in our program plus has the knack to flat out score the ball from all three levels. One other trait that he possesses and that translates quickly into our culture is that he knows how to win. We are excited to have Aaron joining our family and are looking for him to make an impressive impact for us."

Ranked as the top small forward in the FSCAA by Fiorida Hoops Report, Horne helped guide Palm Beach to a 24-8 record this past season. During his freshman season he averaged 8.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest while helping his team to a 20-10 mark.

"Aaron is definitely not a one-dimensional player," said Palm Beach State head coach Martin McCann. "He can really score the ball and also does a great job defensively because of his size and length. He has the ability to guard multiple positions and is an outstanding perimeter rebounder. He played hurt at the end of the season, but before he got hurt he was our leading scorer and had helped us to an undefeated start and Top 10 ranking. Aaron will be a great contributor for North Florida."

Prior to playing at Palm Beach State, Horne earned the Sun Sentinel's 2014 Class 8A-7A-6A Player of the Year his senior prep season after averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per game for Lake Worth High School and coach Murray Smith. As a junior at Lake Worth, he collected Sun Sentinel All-County first-team accolades. He began is prep career playing for John I. Leonard High School.

Horne becomes the first signee for North Florida during the spring signing period and joins fall signees Garrett Sams and Al-Wajid Aminu in the Osprey's 2016-17 class.
