No. 17 Beach Volleyball Splits Matches Against Ranked Opponents To Open North Florida Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – North Florida Beach Volleyball split a pair of ranked matches on the opening day of the North Florida Invite at The Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex on Friday.

North Florida defeated No. 14 Florida Atlantic, 4-1, and fell in a back-and-forth match to No. 15 Stetson, 3-2.

Against No. 14 Florida Atlantic, the first flight built a 2-0 lead for North Florida with wins at the four and five lines. Junior Eden Anderson and freshman Ally Bunch earned a 21-18, 21-12 win at the five line, and freshman Samantha Crosby and sophomore Natalie Villalon posted a 21-15, 21-17 win at four spot. Senior pair Andrea Da Silva Encinas and Madison Espy clinched the match with a 21-15, 21-11 win at the three line. Junior Cameron Humphries and senior Mackenzie Murphy added a 21-19, 21-19 win at the two position.

The win over Florida Atlantic marked the second ranked win of the season for North Florida.

Humphries and Murphy added a 21-14, 21-18 win at the two line, and Da Silva Encinas and Espy added a 21-15, 21-19 win at the three line against No. 15 Stetson.

North Florida returns to the sand for the second day of the North Florida Invite on Saturday, March 21. The Ospreys will honor five seniors prior to the first match.
