The University of North Florida Sports Medicine is made up of three full time certified and licensed athletic trainers, four certified and licensed intern athletic trainers, various health care professionals located throughout the Jacksonville area, and approximately 20 athletic training students from the CAATE accredited Athletic Training Education Program in the College of Health. It is the Sports Medicine Department’s responsibility to oversee and maintain the health and well being of over 250 student-athletes participating in 17 Division I sports in the Atlantic Sun Conference. This includes, but is not limited to, participation, conditioning, protective equipment/devices, nutritional concerns, maintenance of safe playing fields and facilities, and any other matter that would affect the health or safety of the student-athlete. The Sports Medicine Department’s mission is to enhance the quality of health care for the student athlete and advance the profession of athletic training through education and research in the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries.
