JACKSONVILLE -- The North Florida cross country teams will open their competitive seasons on Thursday at 5 p.m. with the UNF XC Invitational to be run on a course at the Hayt Golf Learning Center on campus. The meet was originally scheduled to be run on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 9, but was rescheduled for an early time due to concerns with Hurricane Irma.

Both Osprey teams were picked to challenge for the ASUN Championship this season with the UNF men's squad hoping to defend their title from a year ago. Senior Eden Meyer and junior Nick Morken are the reigning ASUN Cross Country Runners of the Year.

Coaching Comment...
"While there are some very serious issues looming with the threat of Hurricane Irma, we are fortunate to be able to move forward with hosting our cross country meet. Our teams are both excited to race following a long summer of training. Hopefully, running in the meet will allow the student-athletes a moment to take their minds off the hurricane. It is disappointing to have to change the meet date at this late notice, but this is our best opportunity to run the meet on the golf course and not conflict with other scheduled meets. We appreciate Scott Schroeder and the staff at the golf course for being so accommodating with this date change. While we realize some teams will now not be able to attend, we are hopeful for a nice twilight cross country meet." -- Head coach Jeff Pigg
