NBA Summer League Info
JACKSONVILLE -- Former University of North Florida basketball standout
Beau Beech was picked by the Brooklyn Nets to play for their NBA Summer League team in Las Vegas on July 8-18.
Beech, one of the most decorated Osprey players ever, becomes the first player in UNF program history to participate in the NBA's Summer League.
"I'm really blessed and thankful to be given this opportunity to further my basketball career with the Brooklyn Nets organization," said Beech. "This has always been my dream to play in the NBA and to be one step closer to that goal is such a great feeling. A lot of credit goes to my family and coaches for supporting me and teaching me on and off the court."
Beech wrapped up his collegiate career ranked among the all-time leaders in nearly every statistcial category at UNF. He was named a first-team All-Conference selection as a senior and helped lead the Ospreys to back-to-back ASUN Championships in 2015 and 2016.
"This opportunity is so special because Beau is a high character, extremely driven person who serves and works as passionately as possible to achieve greatness," said UNF head coach
Matthew Driscoll. "When recruiting and talking with players it is always interesting to hear "I want to play in the NBA", but when Beau said it, not only was he convicted, he clearly walked the walk from day one to achieve this incredible honor. We are big believers that you reap what you sow and no one did more than Beau over four years on a daily basis to position himself to have an opportunity to play in the NBA. We are excited and looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Beau."
