JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida men's soccer player Helge Pietschmann was named to the Academic All-District team, annually selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. The International Business major is one of three Atlantic Sun student-athletes on the list.
Pietschmann, in his second year at North Florida after transferring from William Carey University prior to the 2014 season, currently sports a 3.84 GPA. Last season he was listed on the Atlantic Sun Conference Academic Honor Roll and will likely be listed again at the conclusion of the 2015-16 academic year.
His academic prowess translates to the pitch as the second-year forward has netted nine goals and four assists in two seasons. He was the Ospreys' top scorer last year on a team that reached the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship game. In 2015 he appeared in all 14 games and two of his three goals have proved to be game-winners.
The honor is the first bestowed on a North Florida men's soccer player since Tobias Eriksson in 1999.Â
