SVIT, Slovakia -- Former North Florida basketball standout Travis Wallace inked his first professional contract to play for BK Iskra Svit in the Slovakia-Extraliga this coming season.
Wallace, a second-team All-Atlantic Sun selection as a senior, led the Ospreys in rebounding with 7.3 per game and ranked second on the squad in scoring with 12.3 points a contest. One of just four players in UNF history to amass 1000 points and 500 rebounds in a career, Wallace finished among the program's leaders in field goal percentage, rebounding and blocks.
"I'm very excited to begin my pro career in Slovakia," said Wallace. "From the beginning, I told Coach Driscoll my goals were to earn my college degree and become a professional basketball player. I can now say that I've accomplished both. The whole Osprey coaching staff pushed me on and off the court to make my dreams come true. I can easily say the four years that I spent at UNF helped me become not only a better basketball player but also a better person."
BK Iskra Svit plays in Slovakia's top professional league and claimed the 2014 Slovakian Cup. The squad has reached the league semifinals in two of the past three seasons and features a roster that includes Wallace and two other Americans - A'Darius Pegues (Campbellsville) and Lakeem Jackson (South Carolina).
