
Slew of Ospreys Named All-Atlantic Sun Conference

MACON, Ga. – The University of North Florida' Corey Bass and Tyler Marincov were both named First Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, May 21, while Joe Wielbruda, Kyle Brooks, Donnie Dewees and Michael Renner were all named to the Second Team. Corbin Olmstead joined Dewees and Brooks on the A-Sun All-Freshman team. Olmstead and Dewees were both unanimous selections to the All-Freshman team. In addition, Renner and Evan Incinelli were both named to the 2013 Atlantic Sun Baseball Academic All-Conference team.
Bass, who is currently on the Johnny Bench Award Watch List for National Catcher of the Year, was Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week on March 25. He finished the regular season playing in 52 games, making 51 starts. The senior managed the conference's top pitching staff. Bass recorded a .309 batting average, including a .311 mark in conference. The Orlando native notched seven doubles, a triple and six home runs, including four HRs in the A-Sun. Bass committed just three errors in 361 total attempts for a .992 fielding percentage. He led the Atlantic Sun in batters thrown out, catching 21 batters trying to steal, including 15 in conference. In addition, Bass also picked off six batters with four batters picked off in A-Sun games. He finished the regular season ranked in the North Florida top-5 this season in slugging percentage, home runs, walks, hit by pitch, sacrifice bunts (led team), games played, games started, total chances, putouts and assists. Bass had 16 multiple-hit games throughout the year, including nine in conference play. The senior had a season-long 10-game hitting streak with a 15-game reached base streak. Bass hit safely in 34 of 52 games played (.654) and reached base safely in 43 games (.827).
Marincov, a 2013 Preseason All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection, was named A-Sun Player of the Week on March 11. Heading in to the final weekend of play, the Orlando native ranked in the NCAA in triples (15th), runs (24th), triples per game (29th), doubles (34th), total bases (37th), runs per game (43rd), hits (60th), stolen bases (65th), doubles per game (70th), runs batted in (74th), stolen bases per game (79th), runs batted in per game (112th) and base on balls (120th). Marincov ranked in the A-Sun top-10 this season in runs scored (1st), triples (1st), total bases (1st), stolen bases (1st), doubles (2nd), slugging percentage (4th), runs batted in (4th), at bats (4th), on-base percentage (5th), hits (5th), home runs (5th), stolen base attempts (5th), walks (6th) and total plate appearances (6th). The junior is the only player on Ospreys roster to play in and start every game this season (55 games). He is the first player in UNF's Division I history to steal 20 or more bases. He is batting .426 (40-for-94) with 31 runs scored, 10 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, 27 RBI, .734 slugging-percentage, 14 walks, 1 hit by pitch, .505 on-base percentage during 23-game hitting streak with 11 stolen bases.

Wielbruda hit safely in 44 of 53 games played (.830), reaching base safely in 47 games (.887). Defensively, he has committed just 10 errors (only four in A-Sun play) in 289 total chances. Wielbruda posted 44 games without an error (.830). The leadoff batter has sparked the offense, scoring at least one run in 32 games (.604) with multiple runs in 13 games.
Brooks, who was also named to the All-Freshman team, played in 51 games as a true freshman, making 49 starts. He recorded a .318 average in his rookie season with a .341 average in conference. The Alachua, Fla. native notched 11 extra base hits, including seven doubles, two triples and two home runs with six doubles and a home run coming in conference play. Brooks registered 19 multiple-hit games, including a team-best 13 multi-hit games in the A-Sun. He finished the regular season ranked in the top-5 on North Florida's roster in on-base percentage, triples, hit by pitch, sacrifice bunts and stolen bases. Defensively, Brooks leads the team with 166 assists and has helped the Ospreys turn 54 double plays, assisting on 33 DPs this season. Brooks has hit safely in 33 of 51 games (.647) and reached base safely in 39 games (.765).
Dewees, who was a unanimous selection to the All-Freshman team, won Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week accolades on April 1. The true freshman entered the final weekend of the season ranked in the NCAA in runs batted in per game (84), runs batted in (84), doubles (85), doubles per game (111), total bases (133), slugging percentage (134), toughest to strikeout (149) and batting average (245). He ranks in the A-Sun top-10 this season in doubles (2nd), triples (4th), batting average (4th), slugging percentage (5th), on-base percentage (7th), runs scored (7th), runs batted in (7th) and total bases (7th). Dewees hit .350 on the season, but upped his average to .405 in the A-Sun. Offensively, 18 of 26 extra base hits (.692) came in conference play and 31 of 45 RBI (.689) came against league opponents. The Crystal River, Fla. native had 18 multi-hit games (13 in A-Sun) and 12 multi-RBI games (8 in A-Sun). He recorded a 13-game hitting streak and 16-game reached base safely streak. Dewees hit safely in 42 of 52 games played (.808), reaching base safely in 47 games (.904) and hit safely in 40 of the 47 games he started (.851), reaching base safely in 44 of those games (.936). He earned A-Sun Player of the Week honors on April 1, batting .550 on the week, boasting a 1.050 slugging percentage and a .545 on-base percentage; finished the week 11-for-20 with four doubles, three triples, seven runs scored and a team-best 11 RBI; recorded multiple hits in all four games on the week, including setting a North Florida school record with three triples in a game.

He ranks fifth in the A-Sun in saves. Olmstead recorded 15 appearances this season without allowing an earned run. At the plate, he hit .307 in rookie campaign with four doubles and three triples. Olmstead had 15 multiple-hit games on the season. He posted a 10-game hitting streak and was one of three North Florida players with a reached base safely streaks of over 20 games (22). Olmstead hit safely in 28 of 40 games played in the field (.700), reaching base safely in 33 of those games (.825).
Renner, who also earned A-Sun Baseball Academic All-Conference team accolades, ranked in the NCAA in victories (18th), earned run average (34th), walks allowed per nine innings (71st) and WHIP (102nd) heading into the final weekend of the season. He ranked in the Atlantic Sun top-10 in earned run average (2nd), wins (2nd) and opposing batting average (5th). The West Hills, Calif. native led the top pitching staff in the conference with a 1.79 earned run average on the season, boasting a 9-1 record on the year. Renner tossed 85.2 innings, surrendering 81 hits (20 extra-base hits), allowing just 27 runs (17 earned runs). He walked just 14 while striking out 49. A contact pitcher, he struck out four or more batters in seven of his 11 games started. The southpaw did not allow an earned run in six appearances with 10 appearances of one run or fewer allowed runs. Renner earned wins vs. The Citadel, at UCF, vs. Lafayette, vs. ETSU, vs. Mercer, vs. Northern Kentucky, vs. Kennesaw State, at Jacksonville and at Stetson. He tossed a complete game shutout against the Hatters (7.0 innings), striking out five without allowing a walk. The crafty lefty had a season-high seven strikeout against Lafayette, while fanning six batters against ETSU and Mercer. Renner recorded five Ks on the road against both Jacksonville and Stetson. After the first appearance of the season, his ERA never rose above 2.00. In the classroom, Renner boasts a 3.30 grade point average in sport management.
Incinelli was voted as a member of the 2013 Atlantic Sun Baseball Academic All-Conference team. The sophomore has a 3.64 grade point average in biology. Incinelli earned Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic honors in 2012. On the year, he has a 1.93 earned run average for the season, making 14 appearances with two starts. The Orlando native has a 4-0 record with one save, earning victories at Bethune-Cookman, at #29 Florida, vs. Bethune-Cookman and vs. Florida A&M. Incinelli earned a save against Lafayette. He has 10 of 14 appearances (.714) without allowing an earned run and has not allowed an earned run in his last 24.0 consecutive innings of work.
