JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- University of North Florida basketball standout Parker Smith is spending the next three weeks playing in a basketball showcase tour throughout China.
Smith, who completed his collegiate career this season, is one of 10 American players participating in the 12-16 game tour as a way to gain exposure for a possible professional contract to play in China. The team is scheduled to compete against various Chinese professional teams.
A first-team All-Atlantic Sun selection, Smith finished his career at UNF as the program's most prolific three-point shooter holding the team's single game, season and career marks. He also finished his career ranked third all-time in the Alantic Sun for treys made and set a new single season record for threes this past season.
In addition, Smith finished last year ranked fifth nationally in three-pointers per game (3.63), 17th in three-point percentage (43.3) and 18th in free throw percentage (87.5).
During the tour, Smith plans to send updates back to the UNF Athletic Communications office if time and internet access allow.
