Buerchner Earns Runner-Up Honors at Bedford Cup

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Senior Moritz Buerchner of the University of North Florida men's tennis team earned second place at the 2012 Bedford Cup after falling in a tough, three-set final on Monday morning.
The senior, who came into this year's tournament seeded seventh, dropped the opening set, 3-6, fought back to take the second, 6-3, before finally falling in the decisive third set, 3-6.
"I'm very happy with how Moritz played this weekend," Head Coach Adam Schaechterle said. "He played fantastic tennis, and to take second place among all the Division I tennis players in Florida is a great accomplishment."
The Ospreys will next take the courts in two weeks, when they head to Fort Myers, Fla. to take part in the FGCU Invite, Sept. 28-30.
