JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida Athletic Department announced a multi-year agreement with 1010 XL (AM) Jax Sports Radio to serve as the exclusive radio broadcasting partner of UNF Athletics beginning with the 2012-13 season.
1010 XL will broadcast all regular season and postseason games for the Osprey men's basketball program along with at least 25 UNF baseball games. Robert Harper, UNF's Director of Marketing, will serve as the “Voice of the Ospreys” for all UNF broadcasts.
“1010 XL is the recognized sport authority in Jacksonville so we are elated to be part of their broadcast family and brand,” said North Florida Athletic Director Lee Moon. “They have a strong signal and provide tremendous coverage in the city and surrounding areas. We are excited and thrilled to join forces with 1010 XL as we continue to grow and improve as an athletic program.”
In addition, 1010 XL will serve as the host station for the weekly UNF Basketball Coach's Show on Tuesday nights from 7-8 p.m. A location and starting date for the coach's show will be announced at a later date.
“1010 XL is happy to welcome the University of North Florida Ospreys to our play-by-play family,” added station General Manager Steve Griffin. “It's a great partnership with Coach Moon, the players and staff of the UNF basketball and baseball programs, and we look forward to broadcasting every exciting play.”
The North Florida men's basketball team opens the 2012-13 season with an exhibition game Nov. 1 versus Flagler. The Ospreys make their regular season debut and the first radio broadcast comes Nov. 10 against Edward Waters at UNF Arena.
