MACON, Ga. – University of North Florida softball's Kaylie Wallace was one of 11 players selected to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
It is the seventh-straight year in which a UNF player earned a postseason honor by the conference and the second consecutive in which a player was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Wallace finished her rookie season with a 1.82 ERA, which ranks fifth in the Atlantic Sun. She's seventh in the conference in both innings pitched (150.1) and batters struck out (125). She fanned a career-high nine batters in UNF's 2-1 win over Towson on Mar. 16. Additionally, Wallace pitched 33.1-consecutive scoreless innings, recording a pair of 1-0 A-Sun shutouts over Stetson and Lipscomb – her first two conference starts.
The North Palm Beach, Fla.-native was a two-time A-Sun Pitcher of the Week selection in 2012, earning the honor on Mar. 19 and Apr. 2. Wallace's first Pitcher of the Week award came after a 5-0 record and one save in UNF's eight games for the week of Mar. 12-18. During that week, Wallace had a 0.41 ERA, allowing only three runs – two of which were earned – off 26 hits in 34.0 innings while striking out 30. Her second honor came after she posted a 0.91 ERA for the week of Mar. 26-Apr. 1 and picked up two A-Sun wins.
