University of North Florida women's tennis' Danielle Day returns to www.UNFOspreys.com for another installment of Diary of Day, discussing the NCAA Selection.
Prior to of Selection Show:
Hello again Osprey fans!
Today is very exciting because in a little while we will be finding out who we are going to play in the first round of the NCAA tournament. It is a big deal for us to be in the tournament, and to gain such a great experience is just a bonus. This is only the second time we are in the NCAA Tournament. The last time we reached the NCAA Tournament was in 2010. That year we played Florida State in the first round and had a tough loss. None of us on the 2010 UNF team had ever been to the national tournament, so we were all scared and nervous. One of the main reasons why we lost that year was because we had never played a team that good before the tournament. That was a big intimidation factor and we really didn't know what to expect. This year is totally different, because throughout the season we played top teams like Miami and Florida State. The draw for the tournament comes out at 6 p.m. and we will play one of the top four teams in our region. Those teams are Florida, Georgia, Miami or North Carolina. We all have been guessing on who we think we will play. I personally feel like we will play Florida, but you never know. We are all very excited and anxious to see who we play. We know it's going to be a good match and we are ready to play it.
After the Selection Show:
We play... University of Miami!!
This is a great match-up for us since we have played them earlier this year. We lost against them, but now it's time for revenge. We know what to expect from Miami. We are going to train as hard as we can. Coach Audra is very happy about this match-up because she knows we have a good chance to beat them. Even though we lost to Miami earlier in the season, as a team we knew that we had a lot of opportunities throughout the match. The 'Canes better watch out because the Ospreys are going to bring the win back to the nest!
Go Ospreys!
