Women's Soccer Kicks Off Busy Spring With Win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of North Florida women's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over Rollins to begin their spring season and will travel to Tampa, Fla. for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 3.
In their first exhibition game of the spring, the Ospreys netted three second-half goals to earn a 3-0 home victory over Rollins College at Hodges Stadium. After freshman midfielder Alexi Zaremba opened the scoring on a set piece from a corner kick, sophomore forward Lauren Hopfensperger grabbed two goals of her own to achieve the final margin for UNF.
Hopfensperger was named to the All-Atlantic Sun Second Team following the 2011 season, after netting five goals and three assists on the year.
This coming weekend, the Ospreys will be headed to Tampa, Fla. for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. They will open the day at 2:30 p.m. with an exhibition match against Tampa, followed by a 4 p.m. bout against South Florida. USF finished the 2011 season with a 6-8-4 record, playing in seven consecutive overtime matches and grabbing a 2-1 home victory over nationally-ranked Indiana in its first-ever match at Corbett Soccer Stadium.
On Sunday, the Ospreys will complete a busy weekend by hosting its 2012 Women's Soccer College ID Clinic on the UNF campus. The clinic, hosted at Hodges Stadium, will be for female soccer players, ages 14-18.
The clinic will consist of training sessions, informational meetings on NCAA rules and recruiting, as well as full, 11-on-11 games in the afternoon.
