JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Senior Kayla Conrad of the University of North Florida cross country team was selected as one of 13 recipients of the NCAA Women's Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics, as announced by the NCAA on Monday.
Conrad, a senior education major at UNF, will receive $6,000 for one year of full-time graduate study at an NCAA member institution.
"I am so proud of Kayla and how she's represented her family and UNF over the past 4 years,” Head Coach Mark VanAlstyne said. “This is a tremendous honor and I know she'll use it to her fullest advantage as she prepares for her career in athletics."
In order to have earned this scholarship, an applicant must be seeking admission or have been accepted into a sports administration or other graduate program that will assist the applicant in obtaining a career in intercollegiate athletics.
In addition to the scholarship, Conrad will also travel to the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, a four-day event through which selected student-athletes and scholarship recipients will explore and be educated on careers in sports, with a primary focus on intercollegiate athletics. The NCAA will cover Conrad's airfare, lodging and meals during the Forum.
