
Basketball Earns 5th-Seed for A-Sun Championship

MACON, Ga. - The 2012 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Basketball Championship seeds are set and ready for play starting next week from February 29th through March 3rd on the campus of Mercer University. The North Florida Ospreys earned the No. 5 seed, the best in program history.
Belmont collected the top seed and will kick off the men's portion of the tournament on Wednesday against No. 8 seed Jacksonville at 2:30 p.m. Mercer - the two-seed - squares off against No. 7 Lipscomb in the night cap on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. In the Thursday contests, No. 4 ETSU and No. 5 North Florida tip at 2:30 p.m., while two newcomers to the tournament - No. 3 USC Upstate and No. 6 FGCU battle in the 8:30 p.m. slot.

The semifinal games are slated for 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 2 on CSS and ASun.TV with the championship final set for 7 p.m. being broadcasted Saturday on ESPN2.
Belmont enters as the defending tournament champions, while Mercer and USC Upstate joined the Bruins with at least 20 wins in the regular season, which marks the first time since 2004 that three A-Sun teams enter the tournament with at least 20 wins.
