Atlantic Sun Release
MACON, Ga. – Following his record-breaking 46-point outing including making 11 three-pointers, North Florida sharpshooter Parker Smith was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league office.
Smith, a junior guard from Gainesville, Ga., set new single game records at UNF for both points and three-pointers made. His point total was the highest by an A-Sun player this year and the second most points scored in an NCAA Division I game this season. The totals also matched the league marks for a conference play. In addition, his 11 treys were the most in a Division I game this year and tied for the 15th-most in NCAA Division I history.
Smith's performance helped the Ospreys earn a weekend sweep over A-Sun foes Kennesaw State and Mercer. Against KSU, Smith finished with 12 points and has now scored in double figures in last six games.
With 15 wins this season, UNF has matched the program record for wins in a season with one more regular season and the A-Sun Tournament still to come.
The honor is the fourth weekly conference honor in Smith's career and his second Player of the Week honor in the last three weeks. Smith garnered a pair of A-Sun Newcomer of the Week accolades last season.
Smith and the rest of his UNF teammates end the regular season Friday night against crosstown rival Jacksonville in the latest edition of the River City Rumble. The game, which will be televised live on CSS, is slated for the JVM Arena with tipoff set at 7 p.m.
