Track and Field Teams Grab Top-Five Finishes At A-Sun Indoor Championships

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Sophomore Brianna Frazier earned Most Valuable Performer honors as the University of North Florida track and field teams both took home top-five finishes at the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track and Field Conference Championship on Saturday.
The women's team finished third, just seven points behind runner-up Kennesaw State, while the men's team grabbed fourth.
Frazier led the way for the women, earning a gold medal in both the 200m, with a 24.12, and the 400m, with a 53.79 that broke her own meet record and paced the field by almost three seconds. Frazier also took fourth in both the 60m (7.72) and triple jump (11.88m) to garner 31.50 points throughout the competition en route to her Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Track Performer honors.
The final gold for the women came in the 4x400m relay, the last event of the day, by way of junior Jaybria Calcote, senior Ava Rivera, sophomore Sharniece Supal and Frazier. Calcote also found the medal stand in the 400m with a time of 56.79.
The men also grabbed three first-place finishes on Saturday, with senior Cameron Dickerson winning the 800m (1:54.21) and junior James Post earning top honors in the mile (4:10.62). Junior Nick Squillace, junior Aaron Tillman, junior Justin Mims and freshman Jake Menan also completed the 4x400m relay sweep by taking first with a time of 3:18.41.
The UNF track and field teams will next compete in the friendly confines of Hodges Stadium as they open their outdoor season at the UNF Spring Break Invite on March 2-3.
