
King, Shepherd Earn Weekly A-Sun Honors

MACON, Ga. -- Senior Christine King and sophomore David Shepherd, pole vaulters on the University of North Florida track and field team, were each named Atlantic Sun Indoor Field Athletes of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
King grabbed her first win of the season at the Embry-Riddle Invite with a vault of 3.65m (11' 11.75”), her best of the year. Her mark is also the highest logged in the A-Sun this season.
Shepherd earned his honor by breaking his own school record in the pole vault, en route to a win at the Embry-Riddle Challenge. His mark of 5.05m (16' 6.75”) is the best recorded in the conference this year by .30 meters. It was Shepherd's first career A-Sun Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award.
The Ospreys are next in action on February 17-18, when they travel to Johnson City, Tenn. for the A-Sun Indoor Track Championships. UNF will then kick off its outdoor schedule with the UNF Spring Break Invite, March 2-3 at Hodges Stadium.
