JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida softball had coach Marcie Hickey has announced the signing of Ashia Kerr to a National Letter of Intent.
“We are very excited to have Ashia joining our program,” said Hickey. “She is a great athlete and a tremendous hitter who should have an impact on our program as a freshman. Ashia is a versatile player who is capable of playing several different positions, which will allow us to make defensive moves and maximize our offense.”
Kerr comes off a stellar junior season where she batted .490 and set new school records for home runs and RBI while helping Lake Howell to an appearance in the Regional Championships. Kerr blasted 12 home runs, shattering Lake Howell High School's previous record of eight, and drove in 45 RBI. In 2012, she was tabbed First-Team All-State, First-Team All-Central Florida and First-Team All-Conference. Kerr earned Seminole Country Player of the Year as well as Lake Howell Player of the Year.
She is a three-time Varsity Scholastic Award honoree. As a sophomore, Kerr was named Second-Team All-Conference. During her freshman campaign, Kerr helped Lake Howell to a district title and was named Lake Howell Rookie of the Year and All-Conference Honorable Mention.
