GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The University of North Florida track and field team grabbed first in three events to highlight a solid day at the Gator Invitational at the University of Florida on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Brianna Frazier led the way on the women's side, grabbing gold in the 400m with a 54.26, the seventh-fastest time recorded in Division 1 this year. Senior Erin Nixon also earned her second first-place finish in as many tries with a 9:55.96 in the 3000m. Junior Meggie Emons was just behind with a 10:03.90 to take fourth.
Senior Brooke Baumann (5:08.94) finished fourth in the mile, while freshman Alyssa Brandt (2:18.46) was fifth in the 800m. The 4x400m relay team of Jaybria Calcote, Ava Rivera, Sharniece Supal and Frazier also earned the bronze medal with a time of 3:51.97.
Senior Christina King (11-8.5), freshman Brittany Wagoner (10-6.75) and sophomore Caleigh Boyington (10-6.75) also placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the pole vault.
For the men, junior James Post again led the way with another first-place finish, this time in the 800m with a time of 1:54.55. Sophomore Sean White also found success, grabbing third place in the mile with a time of 4:24.72.
Senior Cameron Dickerson (8:43.34) and sophomore Chris Haynes (8:49.72) finished fourth and eighth, respectively, in the 3000m, while sophomore David Shepherd (16-1.25) earned top collegian honors in the pole vault for the second consecutive meet.
The 4x400m relay team of Nick Squillace, Skylar Squillace, Justin Mims and Aaron Tillman also clocked a 3:23.92 to finish third.
