
Volleyball Announces 2010 Schedule

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida volleyball team announced its 2010 schedule. The schedule features 29 matches, including 13 home matches at UNF Arena.
“I think we have put together a good schedule for the season,” said head coach Kevin Campbell. “We have teams that are really going to challenge us. We have teams that we will compete head-to-head with and battle in some long five-game matches. We have some teams that we should beat. With the preseason schedule being four weekends long, 13 matches long, we should come out of that over .500 and with a really good confidence to go into the Atlantic Sun Conference season.”
The Ospreys open the season with a pair of tournaments on the road. UNF travels to Atlanta, Ga. to open the 2010 campaign at the Georgia State Invitational on Aug. 27-28, before heading to Charlottesville, Va. for the Holiday Inn Jefferson Cup (Sept. 3-4) hosted by Virginia. The Ospreys will play three matches in each tournament.
North Florida returns to Jacksonville to open up the home season with the Best Western Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10-11. The Ospreys open the tournament with Chattanooga at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, at UNF Arena. Later that day, UNF plays host to Troy in a night game at 7 p.m. The Ospreys conclude the tournament with a pair of games on Saturday, Sept. 11. UNF plays Charleston Southern at 11 a.m., before taking on UIC in a nightcap at 7 p.m.
Following the Best Western Invitational, UNF heads to Charleston, S.C. for the College of Charleston Invitational. The Ospreys will square off against tournament-host College of Charleston, as well as, Central Michigan and Radford.
The Ospreys return for a three-match home series beginning with a match on Saturday, Sept. 25 against in-state rival Florida A&M.
Following the match with the Rattlers, North Florida begins Atlantic Sun Conference play at home. UNF plays host to Stetson on Friday, Oct. 1 at UNF Arena, before taking on Florida Gulf Coast in a match on Saturday, Oct. 2.
North Florida continues play with three road matches, traveling to Bethune-Cookman (10/5), Mercer (10/8) and Kennesaw State (10/9).
On Friday, Oct. 15, UNF welcomes USC Upstate to Jacksonville for a match, before hosting East Tennessee State on Saturday, Oct. 16.
The Ospreys open up the 2010-11 SunTrust River City Rumble with a road match against crosstown rival Jacksonville on Thursday, Oct. 19.
UNF plays Seattle in a nonconference game on Thursday, Oct. 21 before travelling to Nashville, Tenn. for matches against Lipscomb (10/29) and Belmont (10/30).
After Halloween, the Ospreys play three of their final four regular season matches at UNF Arena. On Tuesday, Nov. 2, UNF steps out of conference for a home match against Georgia Southern. North Florida returns to A-Sun action on Saturday, Nov. 6 with a home match against Campbell.
UNF concludes the Atlantic Sun Conference season with a match against crosstown rival JU in the final home match of the year.
The Ospreys travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to close out the regular season against Florida A&M.
The Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament is slated for Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 18-20 in Fort Myers, Fla. Six of the 11 A-Sun teams advance to the conference tournament.
