
UNF Women’s Basketball Signs Peterson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida head women's basketball coach Mary Tappmeyer announces the signing of Megan Peterson for the 2010-11 season.
“We are very excited to have Megan join our program,” said Tappmeyer. “She is a strong, fundamentally sound post that can face up and shoot the three as well as score on the block. She is an excellent athlete that loves the defensive end of the floor. She has the ability to guard both on the perimeter as well as in the post. Megan is an excellent student-athlete and one that can make an immediate impact in our program.”
Peterson, a 6-0 forward from Walters State Community College, where she helped the team to a 26-4 record this past season and a seventh place finish at JUCO Nationals. She was fifth on the team in scoring and fourth in rebounding. She knocked down 44 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc.
Prior to attending WSCC, Peterson attended Chattanooga State as a freshman. She averaged eight points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Peterson shot 45 percent from the field and 37 percent from three point range, helping the team to an 18-10 record.
The Seymour, Tenn. native, attended Seymour High School. She earned District and County MVP honors. Peterson was also named to the All-State and All-Region teams. She averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game.
