JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's track and field team has scheduled the Second Annual JU-UNF Dual on Thursday, April 29, at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., in its effort to prepare for the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships.
The head-to-head match-up begins with the throwing and jump events at 3 p.m. The running events start with the 2,000-meter steeple chase at 5 p.m. and go throughout the evening until the 4x400-meter relay rounds out the meet at 6:45 p.m.
After taking last week off, the Ospreys competed in the UNF Osprey Challenge on April 17. The women led the field with 211 points, beating Jacksonville (135) and Bethune-Cookman (83).
Sophomore pole vaulter Christina King tied UNF's school record with her height of 3.80m, which was set earlier by senior Anne DelBovo in last weekend's meet. King and DelBovo came in first and second in the pole vault.
In the 200m, senior Charisma Anderson broke her personal record with a first place time of 24.53. Her time was four tenths of a second off of assistant coach Le'Titia Silas' school record set back in 1996.
In the A-Sun's outdoor performance list, Anderson sits tied for second in the 100m with JU's Louise Kiernan with their time of 12-even. In the 200m, Anderson ranks second behind a first place time of 24.19 by Jacksonville's Unique Singleton and ahead of two JU runners, who are in third and fourth. Junior SaLydia James sits fifth in the 200m with a time of 24.86.
Senior Elise Trexler is currently first in the A-Sun in the high jump after reaching her school record breaking mark at the FSU Seminole Invite of 1.78m. Trexler was the A-Sun Player of the Week two weeks ago after taking the top spot in the conference away from JU's Charlene Charles (1.70m).
Other than having first place marks in the pole vault and high jump, the Ospreys' own the discus throw with sophomore Kayla Mobley's conference leading throw of 42.44m, which she threw at the Embry-Riddle meet.
