
UNF Women’s Basketball Inks Lamar

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida head women's basketball coach Mary Tappmeyer announces the signing of Raneisha Lamar for the 2010-11 season.
“We are very excited to have added Raneisha to our family,” said Tappmeyer. “She is an exceptional athlete whose best basketball is ahead of her. She is going to be a tremendous addition to our program. Raneisha possesses great speed and endurance and is a force on the defensive end of the floor.”
Lamar, a 6-2 forward/center from Pompano Beach High School, averaged 13.3 points while pulling down 14.4 rebounds per game. She also tallied 13 blocks and 18 steals during her senior season. She was named to the 2010 Broward County All-Star basketball team and the second team Sun-Sentinel and Miami Herald teams. Lamar was named to the ESPN RISE All-Area South Florida Top Players to Watch in December 2009.
In addition to basketball, Lamar will participate in track at UNF. She was the 2009 Florida High School Athletic Association state meet silver medalist in the 100-meter dash. She also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash at the state meet in 2009. She is a three time 200-meter dash district champion.
Lamar also played volleyball during her high school career, earning a spot on the Broward County All-Star team and honorable mention on the Miami Herald and Sun-Sentinal teams.
Off the court, Lamar was a member of the FHSAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and earned the Principal's Award for straight A's. She is also a member of the Pompano Beach High School Crime Watch Committee.
