No. 3 UNF to Face No. 6 Belmont in First Round

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team earned the No. 3 seed for the 2010 Atlantic Sun Men's Tennis Championship and will be facing No. 6 seeded Belmont on Thursday, April 15. The match is set for 11:30 a.m. at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.
The Ospreys (18-7, 7-3 A-Sun) are on a three match win streak and picked up a 4-3 win over Conference USA's Memphis in their last outing.
Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year, Daniel Sotomarino, has tallied a 12-6 mark in duals this season, including 9-1 in league contests. First Team All-Atlantic Sun honoree, freshman Moritz Buerchner, has a 14-8 mark on the season, playing primarily at No. 1 where he has posted a 10-4 tally. He went 6-4 in conference matches. Sotomarino and Buerchner also earned places on the All-Freshman team.
Junior Hleb Maslau earned second team all-conference recognition for his doubles pairing with Sotomarino, but Maslau also has had an impressive singles season with a 17-7 record, including 7-3 in the Atlantic Sun. He has spent the most time at No. 3 where he has an 8-3 record on the season. Earning a spot on the All-Freshman team, Taylor Albrecht has a 14-9 record in this season, including 8-4 at No. 2.
Senior Kurt Gattiker and junior Graham Edgar are 12-4 and 10-5 on the season, respectively. Gattiker has spent the most time at No. 6 where he has a 10-4 tally while Edgar has time at No. 4 (3-1), No. 5 (3-1) and No. 6 (4-3). Freshman Leonardo Nahar has played the most matches at No. 5 this season where he has a 9-4 record. He is 6-4 in Atlantic Sun action.
The Ospreys defeated Belmont, 6-1 at home during the regular season. The Bruins (8-11, 3-7 A-Sun) are on a four match win streak entering into the contest. Belmont is led by Rodrigo Amaral who has 15 singles victories on the season and has seven wins in the A-Sun.
With a win over the Bisons, the Ospreys would advance to face No. 2 seed Stetson on Friday, April 16 at 11:30 a.m.
