JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men’s tennis team picked up a pair of wins on Tuesday at the UNF Tennis Complex. The Ospreys defeated Appalachian State, 5-2 in the morning before shutting out Eastern Kentucky, 7-0 in the afternoon.

Against App State (6-3), the Ospreys (10-4, 1-1 A-Sun) picked up the doubles point to start the match as they picked up wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. In the No. 2, freshman Daniel Sotomarino and junior transfer Hleb Maslau defeated the duo of Philip Kloc and Alain Humblet, 8-5.

Freshmen Leonardo Nahar and Moritz Buercher teamed up to defeat Zeke Sansing and Andrew McKinnon in the No. 3, 8-1.

Buerchner also picked up a singles win by defeating Trent Constance, 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 1. Fellow freshman Taylor Albrecht downed Peter Jacobs in the No. 2 in a tough three set match with scores of 6-2, 6(4)-7, 10-4.

Nahar nabbed a point in the No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Luka Vujinovic while senior Kurt Gattiker defeated McKinnon, 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 6

In the afternoon match against EKU (7-6) the Ospreys swept all of the matches, beginning with the doubles point.

Albrecht and Gattiker teamed up to defeat Hugo Klientovsky and Niklas Schroeder, 8-3 in the No. 1. In the No. 2 Sotomarino and Maslau dropped Parul Verma and Philip Janz, 8-4. Nahar and Buerchner defeated Carlos Valdenebro and Carles Pons, 8-1.

In singles matches Buerchner had the 6-2, 6-0 win over Klientovsky at No. 1. Albrecht defeated Schroeder, 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 2.

Maslau secured the No. 3 point with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Valdenebro while Sotomarino knocked off Parul Verma, 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 4.

Nahar defeated Piriz, 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 5 and junior Graham Edgar nabbed a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 6 over Janz.

The Ospreys will remain at home for a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference matches beginning with Belmont on Friday, March 12 at 2 p.m. UNF will face Lipscomb on Saturday, March 13 at 2 p.m. Both matches will take place at the UNF Tennis Complex.
