UNF Track and Field Set for USF Bulls Invitational
3/17/2010 10:58:24 AM | Men's Track, Women's Track
Field events will start at noon with the women's hammer and men's javelin. The running events are slated to start at 3 p.m. with both the men's and women's 3000-meter steeplechase.
Similar to UNF's Hodges Stadium,
The Ospreys competed in the UNF Spring Break Invitational two weeks ago where the women's 4x100m relay team made up of Anne Delbovo, SaLydia James, Charisma Anderson and Jasmine Jackson took second-place and broke UNF's school record with a time of 46.59. The women also picked up a first place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:49.05. The team was made up of Anderson, Jaybria Calcote, Kayla Conrad and James.
Anderson also ran the 200m with a personal best 24.62 (top time in conference), and took third place in the finals of the 100m with a time of 12.14, just hundredths of a second off of her time of 12.08 (top time in conference) that helped her earn last week's Atlantic Sun Player of the Week.
James leads the conference in the 400m with her fourth-place time of 57.49 that she ran in the UNF Spring Break Open.
On the men's side, James Post leads the A-Sun after his second-place finish in the 800m (1:54.04). Both Sammy Palmer and Craig Sinbine own first and second place times in the conference, respectively, for their times in the 5000m.
The men's 4x400m relay team that broke the school record (3:20.20), sits on top of the Atlantic Sun for their performance in the UNF Spring Break Invitational.
In the field events freshman Anne Demi broke UNF's school record in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.09m, and in the long jump senior Elise Trexler jumped a personal best 5.49m for a first place finish. Christina King set the school record in the pole vault, posting a second-place finish with a vault of 3.65-meters (top mark in the conference), to help her win A-Sun Performer of the Week for all field competitors.
Ashton Mcguire leads the conference in the javelin with her throw of 36.90m that landed her a second-place finish behind current UNF record holder and former competitor Emily Kohler (2005-08), who was unattached.
