JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women’s tennis team will host Belmont in its Atlantic Sun home opener at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 12, at the UNF Tennis Complex. UNF will host A-Sun foe Lipscomb at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13.

UNF (9-1, 2-0 A-Sun) swept Eastern Kentucky, 7-0, in its last outing. The Ospreys picked up the doubles point early, sweeping all three matches, before securing the six singles points.

Sophomore Aline Berkenbrock earned the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honor after winning all three of her singles and doubles matches from the past week.  She nabbed wins at No. 1 against conference foes Florida Gulf Coast and A-Sun preseason favorite Stetson, before knocking off the No. 1 player from EKU. Berkenbrock teamed up with senior Raquel Castro to defeat Stetson’s No. 37 ranked pair of Valentina Galbarini and Carolina de los Santos.

Belmont (3-6, 0-2 A-Sun) was picked to finish 10th in the A-Sun in the preseason poll. The Bruins fell, 7-0, to Campbell and 5-2 to USC Upstate to open conference action.

Lipscomb (4-7, 0-2 A-Sun) fell to USC Upstate (6-1) and Campbell (7-0) to open A-Sun play. The Bisons were picked to finish 11th in the A-Sun preseason poll.

Following this weekend’s matches, UNF will wrap up its home stand on Tuesday, March 16, when Samford visits the UNF Tennis Complex for an 11 a.m. match.
