Ospreys to Host Belmont, Lipscomb in A-Sun Men's Tennis Home Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team will host Belmont in its Atlantic Sun home opener at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 12. UNF will host A-Sun foe Lipscomb at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 13.

UNF (10-4, 1-1 A-Sun) picked up two wins on Tuesday when it hosted Appalachian State and Eastern Kentucky. The Ospreys defeated the Mountaineers, 5-2, in the morning before sweeping the EKU, 7-0, in the afternoon.

Freshmen Moritz Buerchner, Taylor Albrecht and Leonard Nahar picked wins at the No.1, No. 2 and No. 5 spots, respectively, against both teams. Senior Kurt Gattiker notched a win at the No. 6 position against App State, while junior Graham Edgar earned a point in the No. 6 slot against EKU. Junior Hleb Maslau and freshman Daniel Sotomarino also earned wins against EKU with Maslau at No. 3 and Sotomarino at No. 4.

Belmont (4-5, 0-2 A-Sun) was picked fifth in the Atlantic Sun in the preseason poll. The Bruins fell, 5-2 to Campbell and 6-1 to USC Upstate to open conference action. Belmont returns 2009 First Team All-Atlantic Sun selection Joao Paoliello and All-Freshman Team selection Rodrigo Amaral.

Lipscomb (3-2, 0-2 A-Sun) fell to USC Upstate (6-1) and Campbell (7-0) to open A-Sun play. The Bisons were picked to finish 11th in the A-Sun preseason poll.

Following this weekend's matches, UNF will be back on the road for its next two matches. The Ospreys will travel to Kennesaw State on Friday, March 19, for a 2 p.m. match and then will face Mercer on Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m.
