JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team fell to Florida Atlantic in a close 4-3 match on Sunday morning at the UNF Tennis Complex.

UNF falls to 3-2 while FAU improves to 2-1 on the season.

Freshman Taylor Albrecht won in the No. 2 singles after a tough three set match against Lawrernce Harradine. Albrecht picked up the 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win. In the No. 3 singles freshman Leonard Nahar defeated Ervin Garibovic, 6-4, 7-6 (3).

UNF also scored in the No. 6 singles with senior Kurt Gattiker defeating Matthew Braunworth, 6-4, 6-1.

In the No. 1 singles freshman Moritz Buerchner fell to Marc Abdelnour, 6-1, 6-3. Abdelnour finished the 2009 season ranked 116 nationally in singles.

The Owls also picked up wins in the No. 4 with Joshua Scholl defeating junior Graham Edgar, 6-3, 6-2 and in the No. 5 where Derek Madon notched a 7-5, 6-4 win over junior Hleb Maslau.

FAU swept the doubles matches to win the point.

The Ospreys will be back on the court on Saturday, Feb. 13 when they travel to Elon, N.C. to face the Phoenix in a noon match. UNF will continue its road swing on Sunday, Feb. 14 in an 11 a.m. match at Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C.
