
Nelson Named Swimmer of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Florida's Lyn Ann Nelson has been named the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets competed Feb. 1-7, it was announced today by the League.
Nelson, a junior from Omaha, Neb., won all six races she swam this past weekend against North Carolina A&T. She began the weekend with a first-place finish in the 200 IM (2:12.77), claiming the event by more than five seconds. Nelson then won the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.99. She wrapped up Friday's competition by swimming the anchor leg of the 200 free relay team that finished with a top time of 2:28.16.
In the Ospreys' mini-meet on Sunday, Nelson won the 400 IM (4:41.15) and also took top honors in the 100 freestyle, touching in 55.01. To conclude the weekend, Nelson swam the anchor leg of the winning 800 free relay that finished with a time of 7:58.07. This is Nelson's third Swimmer of the Week plaudit of the season.
North Florida returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 18 as they begin the 2010 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Conference Meet. The meet will run through Saturday, Feb. 20, in Knoxville, Tenn.
