Hollyoak Garners All-South Region Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida's Matthew Hollyoak was named second-team All-South Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American for his efforts on the field during the 2009 season.
In addition to Hollyoak, five other members of the Atlantic Sun Conference were also named All-South Region. Stetson's Robert Hodge and Fredrik Brustad, and Campbell's Vince Petrasso earned second-team accolades, while Mercer's Ian Cameron and Stetson's Kevin Munz picked up third-team honors.
Hollyoak, a senior defender, earned First-Team All-Atlantic Sun and racked up six points during regular season and helped the Osprey's to their first ever conference tournament. He finished the regular season third on the team with six points, including five points in Atlantic Sun Conference play. Hollyoak led the team with four assists with three of his four assists coming in A-Sun matches. His only goal of the season came in conference play against Lipscomb. Hollyoak registered two assists in the UNF win over USC Upstate and had a goal and an assist for three points against Lipscomb.
“I feel Matthew is one of the best leaders we have ever had on this team and I am excited that he has been recognized,” head coach Ray Bunch stated. “The things that Matthew brings to this team both on and off the field are just fantastic and he will be missed.”
The all-conference awards marked the second time in his career that he had been named All-Atlantic Sun. Hollyoak was named second-team all-conference in 2007 and was a member of the A-Sun All-Freshman team in 2006.
