Team Delivers Teddy Bears To Underprivileged Youth Monday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's basketball program is about more than just making a difference on the court, it is also about making a difference off the court. Head coach Matthew Driscoll and his staff want to develop well-rounded men who can be successful after college. Coach Driscoll has implemented the Personal Improvement Program, coordinated by assistant coach Bruce Evans, that will help its team and staff grow each year.
Listed below are some of the community activities that the men's basketball program has already participated in, including today's event that saw the team deliver new Teddy Bears to underprivileged youth at the William R. and Frances B Barnett Children's Building. The new Teddy Bears were donated by Ospreys fans at the season opener vs. Savannah State on Nov. 18.

"What an awesome gathering we were blessed to attend today as our guys got to realize that the greatest gift we have is the gift of giving," said Driscoll "The smiles and energy that was shown on the faces of those children and parents was priceless. Our players really saw first hand the true meaning of service before self today. What a great experience."
Driscoll understands the importance of being involved in the community.
"One of our responsibilities as adults and coaches is to make sure we grow our guys socially, academically, and athletically," added Driscoll. "One of the biggest parts of the social aspect is serving while giving back to the community. We have taken and placed guys in a variety of settings that will grow their mind, heart, and spirit. We are all so blessed yet we can do more by serving the community in as many areas as possible. We want our players to graduate better human beings as well as tremendous basketball players."
