The five golfers competing this weekend for UNF are senior J.C. Horne, junior Chris Kennedy, sophomores Sean Dale and Kevin Alywin, and freshman Kevin Phelan.
“This is the last event of the fall so it is important to end on a good note,” said UNF golf coach Scott Schroeder. “We have not played as well the last two events so the guys are motivated to prove that we are better than that. It is also neat going to an event that has been recreated with such a worldwide name like David Toms. He is supposed to be around a lot so it should be a fun weekend.”
The Ospreys have finished second (out of 17), fifth (out of 15) and tied for 10th (out of 15) in their three previous fall tournaments.

The David Toms Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Louisiana bears the name of a former LSU great and its most decorated golfer ever.
Toms earned three All-America honors during a brilliant career at LSU from 1986-89, including a pair of first-team selections in 1988 and 1989. He was also a three-time First-Team All-SEC performer, and was honored as the program's only two-time SEC Player of the Year in 1988 and 1989. He guided LSU to two SEC championships during his career while winning the SEC individual title as a sophomore in 1987.
Toms has gone on to a successful professional career as a star on the PGA Tour. He has won a total of 12 PGA Tour events during a remarkable 18-year career, including his first career major championship at the 2001 PGA Championship, while earning more than $30 million in competition.
