Emily Kohler takes first in javelin throw
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of North Florida men’s and women’s track and field teams conclude the 2008 outdoor regular season with some dominating performances at the UCF Invitational. 
 
Senior Emily Kohler had the best finish for the Lady Ospreys, finishing first overall in the javelin throw with a distance of 43.31m. Teammates Amy Stroder (31.15m) and Anne DelBovo (10.71m) finished a few spots behind Kohler in fourth and fifth place, respectively. 
 
Kohler, Stroder and Delbovo also competed in the high jump and long jump events together. Stroder led the way in the high jump, taking home fourth place with a height of 1.75m, while teammates Elise Trexler (1.65m), Kohler (1.60m), and Delbovo (1.50m) finished behind Stroder in sixth, seventh and 10th place. Stroder took charge in the long jump as well, finishing fifth with a distance of 5.43m. Kohler (5.36m) and DelBovo (5.16m) finished right behind Stroder in sixth and eighth place. 
 
Stroder also established a new UNF outdoor record in the 100m hurdles with her ninth-place time of 14.90. The previous record was 15.35, set in 2007 by Mary Renfro.
 
Senior Amanda Davey had the best finish in the running events, where she had a second-place finish in the 1,500m with a time of 4:40.65. Teammates Hillary Adams (4:47.10), Sarah Coghlan (4:50.98) and Kelly Marshall (5:01.27) finished right behind Davey in third, fourth and seventh place. Both Davey and Marshall achieved new outdoor personal bests in the event. 
 
SaLydia James placed eighth in the 400m with a time of 56.90, establishing a new personal-best time. The Florida native’s previous best was 57.08, set earlier this season at the Seminole Invitational. James finished 21st in the 200m as well with a time of 25.33. 
 
On the men’s side, Nathan Holden (4:11.51) and Jeff Auletta (4:22.26) finished back-to-back in the 1,500m, placing fourth and fifth in the race. Both athletes achieved new personal best in the event.
 
Will Pearce led the way for the men in the 800m run, finishing second with a time of 1:56.11, while teammates Marvin Moore (1:59.59), Dane Simmons (2:01.75) and Mike Sprague (2:02.43) finished hot on Pearce’s trail in fourth, fifth and sixth place. 
 
The men’s and women’s squads will return to action at the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Conference Championships on May 16.
