University of North Florida golfers Kevin Aylwin, Kevin Phelan and Sean Dale participated in the stroke play portion of the U.S. Amateur Championship held Monday and Tuesday at Chambers Bay (par 71, 7,742 yards) and The Home Course (par 72, 7,420 yards).

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – University of North Florida golfer Kevin Aylwin became the third Osprey to qualify for the upcoming U.S. Amateur Championship after finishing second in the qualifier event held Monday and Tuesday at the Orange County National Golf Center. The 2010 U.S. Amateur is being held Aug. 23-29 at Chambers Bay (par 71/7,742 yards) in University Place, Wash.

The University of North Florida’s string of summer golf success continued as All-American golfer Sean Dale qualified for the upcoming U.S. Amateur Championship after finishing second in the qualifier event held Monday and Tuesday at Sawgrass Country Club. The 2010 U.S. Amateur is being held Aug. 23-29 at Chambers Bay (par 71/7,742 yards) in University Place, Wash.

Another summer amateur tournament, another strong performance by a University of North Florida golfer as junior Major Forbess never wavered from a three-shot lead he held at the beginning of the day and, with a closing 70, won the Jacksonville Area Golf Association Amateur Championship Sunday at 9-under-par 279 at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.

University of North Florida golf standout Kevin Phelan reached the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Golf Championship before suffering a 1-down loss to Lion Kim Friday afternoon at Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center in Greensboro, N.C.
